A System Matched to Your Water, Not a Catalogue

What goes into a whole-home system depends entirely on what is in your water. A house on Athens-Clarke County city water and a house on a private well two miles outside town have completely different problems.

  • Matched to your water source

City or well is the first fork in the road. Wells bring iron, manganese, and sediment into play. City water is usually about taste and odour from disinfection.

  • Sized to your household

Bathroom count, fixture count, and peak demand decide the flow rate the system has to keep up with, so it still works when two showers run at once.

  • Installed and confirmed

Tied into your existing plumbing, tested for performance before we leave, and explained to you so you know what maintenance it needs and when.

Signs Your Home Would Benefit

Most people call us because of something they noticed rather than something they measured. Any of these is worth a conversation.

  • Taste and smell

Water that tastes or smells like a swimming pool, or a musty, rotten-egg smell that is worst first thing in the morning.

  • Sediment and staining

Grit collecting in faucet aerators and showerheads, or staining showing up in sinks, tubs, and toilet tanks.

  • Wear on the house

Appliances failing earlier than they should, scale on fixtures, or buying bottled water because you do not like what comes out of the tap.

Frequently Asked Answers

Frequently Asked Questions About Whole-Home Water Filtration

Is a whole-home filter the same as a water softener?
No. A filter reduces what you can taste, smell, or see — chlorine, sediment, odours. A softener removes the calcium and magnesium that cause scale. Some homes need one, some need both, and plenty of homes on Athens city water need neither.
Where does the system get installed?
At the point where the main line enters the house, usually a garage, basement, crawlspace, or utility closet. Everything downstream of that point is treated, which means every shower, tap, and appliance in the house.
Will it slow down my water pressure?
Not if it is sized correctly. Undersizing is the most common mistake we find on systems somebody else installed — it works fine until two showers and the washing machine run at once. Sizing to your fixture count is part of the consultation.
